Landfill Leachate

Landfill operators and owners around the world are concerned and have started to address the problem of serious groundwater contamination that results from water running off disposal sites and leachate. In Hamburg, Germany, a Kickuth BioReactor was constructed in 1984 to treat a 43 Hectare dumpsite that contained cyanide, arsenic, heavy metals, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated aromatics and many other contaminants. As a result, this once toxic site has been reclaimed for a recreational and natural park.
