Hogan's Pond : Single Family

Problem: This property is located very close to
a pond in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The current regulations state that a traditional septic leaching system cannot be any closer than 100 feet to the high water mark of an inland body of water. This caused a problem for the owner in that he would have to pump his sewage to an area behind his home. This area was uphill and provided a treed privacy screen between the house and the road. The owner was not keen to take down the trees, install a mechanical sewage lift pump or to excavate a large 30m x 30m area.

Solution: Abydoz solved all of the concerns of the property owner. The PhytoKlare 500 was small enough to be located to the side of the home, slightly downslope and was fed by gravity. The system required an area of 3m x 9m, did not require pumps and the homeowner was not required to excavate a large area or take down trees that provided privacy to his property. Additionally, since treatment levels are far superior to traditional leach fields this system was approved even though it was located only 80 feet from the high water mark of the pond.
